Using recorded video and audio for enhanced communications in a case

This guide looks at how to record and send video and audio messages within a case. Every participant in a case has this ability and it can be leveraged in several ways to provide flexibility and effectiveness for case communications. Recorded message communication is a highly effective complement to the other live and real time communication options in your platform.

If you don’t already have your own MODRON Spaces account, we invite you to try the platform totally free, and without requiring a credit card for 14 days. Sign up here.

Note: This feature is only available in Chrome (or other Chromium-based browsers) and Firefox.

Step 1. Start the record a video message process

First you need to have a case created. If you need help with how to create your case, check out our earlier blog post here.

From within your case you then navigate to the appropriate space for sharing your video message. For this guide we will record a message in the Everybody space so that anyone in the case can view the message. At the bottom of the screen is what we refer to as the Omnibar. Click on the + icon at the bottom-right of your screen as seen below. You will then see the option to Record Video Message - click on that option to get started.

Step 2. Prepare to record your message

Once you click the Record Video Message option, the recording screen will open. Here you can decide on a name for your video as well as change your settings for your camera and microphone by clicking on the gear icon. It is also an opportunity to assess how your recorded video will appear before you start. When you are ready, click the Start button to commence recording and the Stop button that will appear when you are finished.

If this is the first time you have used this feature, you may need to give permissions to MODRON Spaces to use your camera and microphone.

Step 3. Record and review your message

Once you have recorded your message play it back to see just how great you did! If you are satisfied with your video, then press the Save button to post the video to the space. If you think you could do better, click Record Again and repeat the process as many times as necessary until you nail it.

Step 4. Your saved message is posted to the space

By clicking on the Save button you will post the video to the space. Anyone who is part of that space will be able to view your message.

Step 5. Try a Recorded Audio Message

By repeating steps 1-4 but choosing the Record Audio Message instead of Record Video Message you can similarly post a recorded audio message to the Space.

Conclusion

If you have followed the steps, you will have recorded both an audio and video message that you can play back from your space. Have a think about the potential use cases in your own dispute resolution processes.
